This month you will not want to miss our guest speaker, Mr. Steven Duong, AICP, Senior Urban Planner with AECOM, on the Hyperloop Texas Project.
Hyperloop is a new way to move people or things anywhere in the world quickly, safely, efficiently, on-demand and with minimal impact to the environment. The system uses electric propulsion to accelerate a passenger or cargo vehicle through a tube in a low pressure environment. The autonomous vehicle levitates slightly above the track and glides at faster-than-airline speeds over long distances. Hyperloop eliminates direct emissions, noise, delay, weather concerns and pilot error. It’s the next mode of transportation.

The TSPE Preston Trail Chapter is excited to announce a reduced luncheon cost of $10 for all TxDOT employees – just one of the many benefits of being a TSPE TxDOT Affiliate Member!
Did you know that TxDOT employees are automatically TxDOT Affiliate Members of TSPE? Being such, they are able to serve on non-voting committee roles, are eligible for Engineer of the Year and Young Engineer of the Year, and pay a reduced cost for the annual TSPE conference. We are now excited to provide a reduced luncheon cost and encourage more attendance of TxDOT staff at our upcoming meetings.
Luncheon cost for members will remain at $20 with non-members paying $25.
We continue to try to provide the best value for both members and non-members to come out to our monthly luncheons.
A big thanks to everyone who attended our August luncheon this past Thursday where we had Lani Marshall, PE of TxDOT PEPS give a presentation on upcoming TxDOT procurements and common mistakes made for SOQ’s submitted.
We also had our State Director, Jeff Frison, PE, provide an update to attendee’s about NSPE’s on-going efforts to protect design professionals against limitless claims from contractors.
Are you interested in getting more involved in the Preston Trail Chapter? We have a couple committee positions available – please get in contact with one of our board members if you are interested.
