The City of Sherman is seeking a dynamic City Engineer to lead the City’s Engineering Department. The successful candidate must possess a thorough knowledge of the principles and practices civil engineering, including the principles and practices of project management as well as local laws, codes and regulations related to public works design and construction. The position is responsible for planning, designing and managing the City’s Capital Improvement Plan, plan review of all private development projects, serving
as the floodplain administrator, and is assisted by five employees who inspect construction, implement the storm water management plan, develop the City’s Geographic Information System, and take pride in meeting commitments and providing high levels of service to the visitors, businesses, and citizens of our
great community. The ideal candidate will be a brilliant problem solver with a proven track record for success. Superb analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills will be required in order to work collaboratively with visitors, businesses and citizens, and manage engineering staff. Candidates that possess skills in conscientious fiscal management, and a respect for development will be highly successful.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Graduation from an (ABET) accredited University or College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
Five years of engineering experience including design and administration of public works projects.
Licensed Texas Professional Civil Engineer or will obtain such a license within 6 months of appointment.
